October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Preston College wants to help support the race for a cure. This is why we are raising funds through Passionately Pink for the Cure to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever.
Did you know that according to the American Cancer Society, about 1,479,350 new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2009? This year, about 62,340 Americans are expected to die of cancer, that is more than 1,500 people a day. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease. In the US, cancer accounts for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths. Preston can make a difference! Every donation makes a difference.
For every $100 raised, one gentleman from Preston has kindly offered to dye their hair pink to show their support for the cause. These gentlemen are, Tripp McDaniel, Chad Tyndall, Logan Royals, Pawel Glab, Max Housley , Steve Zimovan, Zac Baker, Casey Spigner, Cobin Sutton, and Jim Stiver! That’s right! If we reach $1,000, Jim Stiver will have pink hair!
We have until October 30th to make donations. And hopefully we will see Jim Stiver with pink hair at the Halloween Tea on October 30th.
Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated. We also accept checks and debit card donations. If you would like a receipt for your donation, you can write a check and make it out to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Also include Preston’s team number on the check. Our number is 6177002. If you write a check, please contact Monica Bracey to fill out a donation reply form. There is a jar for collecting donations at the front desk of Preston and you can also contact Monica Bracey, Margarett Peterson, or Samuel Barfield and we will collect your donation through, check, cash, or debit.

There is a way to donate directly to the "Susan G. Komen for the Cure" in Preston College’s name online with your credit or debit card. It is quick and easy! Simply follow these six steps:
Step 1: Go to www.passionatelypink.com.
Step 2: At the top right corner, click “find a team”.
Step 3: Click "search for a team" and enter Preston College and then push search.
Step 4: The link for Preston College will appear and follow it to the next page.
Step 5: Then click “Donate to this team”.
Step 6: Enter your personal information and follow the outlined steps for making donations.
